Treasure Chest Thursday – Permit to Leave Canada

This is probably my favorite document I have from Dennis O’Connell because it really gives detailed information about him. From this document, I was able to learn that Dennis was 5′ 10″ tall, weighed 165 lbs., he had grey eyes, brown hair and he was a papermaker.

As for genealogical information, it tells me that he was a married man and has 3 children living. According to this document he was born in Granville, NY and is an American citizen by birth, but he has lived in Thorold for 3 months.

The picture of him was taken on the day he filled this out which is 15 Jan 1918. This document also has Dennis’ signature on it.

The backside of the document was stamped numerous times by the Canadian Immigration Inspector, these stamps gave Dennis the permission to leave Canada to visit Buffalo, NY from the time he signed the document in Jan 1918 until Jan 1919.

In Memory of George Drapak

Drapak – In sad and loving memory of George Drapak, who passed 14 years ago today.

Our family circle has been broken,

A link gone from our chain;

But though we’re parted for a while

We know we’ll meet again.

Some day we hope to meet you,

Some day, we know not when,

We shall meet with many a loved one

That was torn from our embrace,

We shall listen to their voices,

And behold them face to face,

Sunshine passes, shadows fall,

Love’s remembrance outlasts all.

-Sadly missed by wife Martha, and daughters Stella, Mary and Lilly.

In Memory of Marie Elizabeth Guenther Bell

In Memoriam:

Bell – In loving memory of our dear daughter, Marie Elizabeth Guenther Bell, who passed away one year ago today, November 18, 1949.

There’s a place set apart in the depths of our hearts.

A corner that was always your own.

No one can replace it, or time efface it.

We keep it for you alone.

To us you have not passed away,

Nor have you travelled far.

But entered heaven’s most beautiful gate.

And left the door ajar.

-Lovingly remembered by Mother and Dad_
